Contest Rules
  
This is Not a dance competition. Live Music Only!
1. Contestants must be residents of the Province of Ontario.
2. Artist must be unsigned (no recording contract) Ten (10) yrs or older
or on merit.
3. Entry deadline will be July 4/2008. Soon after this date, the qualifying
contestants will be contacted.
Note: Contest takes place Wed. Aug. 13/2008 with grand prize winners performing on (date as yet to be confirmed) at the Havelock Jamboree.
4. The contest is limited to twenty (21) entries. NOT necessarily the first 21 submissions.
5. Entrants must submit a C.D. (NO DVD's or Audio Cassette Tapes) consisting of a 3 song demo* (this MUST be somewhat consistant with your performance) though you may perform other songs on the day of the show.
NO Canned Music = pre-recorded background tracks, pre-recorded layers, this includes drum machines and beat boxes.
NO Karaoke Music ...Live perfomances only!!
  6. A photo suitable for publishing and short bio(state your goals as a Country Music Performer/s)
  7. Ten Dollars ($10.00 non-refundable) money order, payable to
"Havelock Country Music Talent Show Inc. "

  Selecting:
  The committee judging panel will select 21 contestants to compete at the staged show contest.
    Each of the twenty (21) contestants must perform three (3) selections in the preliminary round of the show.
    The top (6) six finalists will return to the stage and perform two (2) more song selections.
Judging follows immediately, to declare the final three (3) winners.
    A complete sound system, including drum kit will be available. Staging co-ordinators will assist all acts in preparation for their performances.
 
 
Judging:
   

You will be earnestly evaluated by industry professionals, in a positive and
professional atmosphere.

The judges will consist of a minimum of three qualified professionals (from within the music industry) with the audience to select the winner of "The Fan's Choice Award" (prize/s to be announced)
** (audience members with a paid entry ticket ONLY will be allowed to cast a vote)

A Few Judging Criteria Guidelines Are:
*Visual presentation - Stage presence, appearance, attire.
*Vocal Quality - Pitch, timbre, range control, pronunciation, enunciation.
*Preparation - Tuned, rehearsed, readiness to perform, competence.
*Audience response, verbal interaction.
*Professionalism, originality, marketable qualities, showmanship.
*Extra consideration MAY be given for original compositions.
-Judging for written quality of the music and lyrics and originality.
-Original compositions must be easily depicted and recognized among Country Music genres.

Day of the Show, Wednesday, Aug.13/ 2008:

The show begins at 11 a.m. (at the Havelock/Belmont/Methuen Community Centre) and will be divided into two halves.

First Half - consists of performances by all twenty-one entrants.
Each contestant must perform three (3) selections (15 min. max)
Judging will take place to declare six (6) finalists.

There will be a musical intermission followed by the finals.

Second Half - Finals:
Each finalist must perform two (2) selections.
Musical intermission to select: First, Second, Third and The Fan's Choice Award.

Attention everyone:
This is a full day event, contestants are advised to come prepared.
It is also an extremely busy time in Havelock and area
....please try to make plans well in advance.
